Copper and leather
Diameter: 10.3 approx
Height: approx 6cm

Part of a collection of work under the title Collars, Cuffs and Crowns, this piece explores the themes of inheritance and gender. The collars and cuffs are suggestive of bonds and ties to the land as in slavery and serfdom with the crowns obviously signifying the top of the hierarchy.
Almost as a throwback to the medieval feudal system male primogeniture still exists today.
Here the leather binds around the metal, holding it in tension. It is not intended as an object to be worn and is too small for an adult neck.
